Justice, Outreach and Service at United Church

To Believe is To Care, To Care is To Do.

Our members breathe life into our church motto by connecting and to bringing hope to those throughout our community.

In addition to the use of our church building whose rooms are opened to dozens of local groups … we reach out to the local community through efforts such as our Economic Justice Resolution that was forwarded to – and unanimously approved by the national United Church of Christ during the denomination’s national synod in 2009. Each year we partner with Habitat for Humanity to help build a home for those who have a demonstrated need, and a demonstrated desire to create a warm, caring home for their families. We also connect with many others by our support and participation with the Interfaith Council, UNC Hospital’s AIDS Chaplaincy, and Orange County prison ministry … among many other local organizations.

Our mission extends well beyond our geographic borders.  We are connected to one another in ways that transcend physical boundaries of neighborhood, class, race, and nationality.  Our congregation’s support for families of Karen Refugees from Burma (aka Myanmar) is a perfect example of these connections. Many of our members and friends have contributed their time, assistance and funds to help these families adopt and start to grow roots within our community.
