Sunday Morning Worship at United Church
8:45 am Worship and Communion
Includes a weekly children’s worship component and periodic special music by the children’s vocal and bell choirs. United Voices of Praise, our gospel choir, sings monthly. There is communion each Sunday.
10 am Church School for children and adults
11 am Worship
Our Chancel Choir sings primarily at this service. Worship is also periodically enriched at both services by our Chamber Singers, handbell choirs, orchestra, and many small groups and soloists. There is a children’s worship component to the service, and communion is offered the first Sunday of each month.
A time of fellowship (coffee hour) follows each service.
Nursery
Child care for infants through kindergarteners is provided in the lower level nursery and playground area during both worship services and the church school hour.
Healing Service
We offer healing prayer by laying on hands at every service of communion. Worshipers are invited to ask for prayer for themselves or for someone they know.
Spanish Service
Iglesia Unida de Cristo, as the Spanish-speaking part of our larger congregation, meets for praise, prayer, and Bible study. David Mateo is the pastor for Iglesia.
Children’s Church
Children’s worship services are held monthly at 10 am in the Sanctuary during the Church School year.
Communion
We celebrate communion every Sunday at the 8:45AM service and on the first Sunday of the month at the 11AM service. We believe that the Lord's Table is truly God's Table . . . Christ is the host. The Table of the Lord is open to all who wish to eat at the table with Christ and in fellowship with others. We come forward, pulling a piece of bread from the loaf and dipping the bread into the cup (intinction). If you are not able to come forward for communion, please raise your hand and communion will be brought to you.
Baptism
Baptism is the symbolic entry into the Church of Jesus Christ. It is a personal and community celebration and thus typically performed in the context of a worship service.
While our primary tradition is infant baptism, we know there are families whose tradition is waiting for individuals to make that decision themselves. Thus, we offer adolescents a confirmation/discipleship class -- to confirm those who were previously baptized and to prepare those for baptism who now wish to become disciples of Christ. We also offer adult believer baptism.
